A New Year

It's that time of year again. All the promises and vows to eat better and work out more, to be happier and complain less, to spend less time at work and more time at home, or to get out of debt. Everyone makes resolutions at the beginning of the year... We all want a fresh start come January and we just know we are actually going to do it this year!

Two years back, I decided to make a goal/challenge for the year (I have never liked the word resolutions) for myself... Of course, it ended up being book-related so it wasn't a fantastic goal - but still, it was fun. I did the same thing last year - though I was a few books shy of last year's goal - but I'm okay with that.

I know there are some of you out there that think making "resolutions" or goals for the New Year is stupid... But I'm really trying to challenge myself to step out of my comfort zone this year... to not be so content with just being "blah"... I want to be more and do more. The Lord has brought to me a place in the last year where I am doing things I never thought I'd do... and I want to continue down that path.

That being said, this year I am branching out beyond just book goals/challenges... I thought long and hard about what I wanted to do... Of course I had to have some sort of book challenge (I just can't help it!)... But I wanted to do something MORE.

So, after thinking and praying about it, I now present my 2014 Goals/Challenges!!

  • I want to do something new every month. It can be a new activity, trying a new food, or going somewhere new (if you know me, you know I don't like change or doing anything new - so this is going to be interesting!).
  • I want to be more aware of the sweet moments that happen in my life. So I'm starting to write them down (I have already been blessed with so many sweet moments in the last two weeks!).
  • I want to read more classics. More specifically, I want to read all of Jane Austen's novels (I also want to read "The Jane Austen Book Club" and re-watch the movie)

So watch out! You may be seeing some new and interesting things coming from me this year. :)
